Question How big should my downpipe..to catback be?

I know, I'm NA...I still call it a downpipe...Ya know those race pipes, or test pipes as some of you call them? Well, I want to have one bent and made at my local exhaust shop...but I'm not sure how big it should be? I'm thinking either 2.25", 2.5", or 2.75"...what do you think is good?
