How to align Eccentric shaft pulley?

I accidentally knocked the pulley off when removing the water pump and I don't seem to remember if I align the pulley with the needle before working on the car. Maybe I did align it but to make sure
is there a way to find the proper way to install the eccentric pulley back properly?

The car was properly align so I could just test it on every position with the timing gun

You're talking about the pulley assembly that bolts on the eccentric shaft pulley/hub with four bolts. If so the four holes are drilled such that all the holes will only align and go on one way. Because of this I don't think it can be put on wrong.

Unless you Hack at the holes with a file The pulley only goes on ONE WAY..the correct way,as the holes are "offset"..not a square pattern.
Mazda made them this way in case someone took it off. That way they do not lose the Timing mark.
