How Accurate are HP calculators?

I had this question, How accurate are HP calulators? I know they do not replace a dyno.

But if you know the weight of the car with you and gas, they should be fairly close to real world times.

So I tried a few of my cars with know weights and times to review from.

If you have a dyno of your car and track slips you can remember, try this calcultor out and tell us how accurate or how far off it was form the real world...

My MP3 weights 2800, with me and gas right around 3100 lbs...My best ET was 16.04 @ 88 mph.. This car is a 4 door family sedan..But the HP comes out right

Also the RX7 ran a 14.8 @ 94 and it weights 3300 with gas, me and a passenger that was in the car during the run.

I think this calculator is somewhat very accurate, to so degree..not 100% but close.

Your RX7 weighs about 3300 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 14.8 seconds. That means that you've got about 201.19 HP at the wheels, and about 261.55 HP at the flywheel.

This above is for a Turbo RX7

Your MP3 weighs about 3100 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 16.04 seconds. That means that you've got about 148.47 HP at the wheels, and about 193.01 HP at the flywheel.

So now I did my N/A RX7 it come to about 2500lbs with me and gas. My best run was 15.3

Your RX7 weighs about 2500 pounds and can complete a 1/4 mile in about 15.3 seconds. That means that you've got about 137.96 HP at the wheels, and about 179.35 HP at the flywheel.

Not to bad for over 300,000 miles on a N/A

that pretty much a simple formula and it pretty close but not right on. The formula for yall who want to know is: {Hp=(1/4 mile Mph/234)^3 X Weight}
