Housing sleeve separation?!?

So I bought an S5 Tii motor with blown coolant seals that needs a rebuild. I recently pulled it apart and aside from the coolant seals being goop and a gouge in the housing, all was good.

Until I found this....

Seems the housing sleeve separated from the housing. I've never even seen this before.

So, with this new found issue, what else do I look for? Warped irons? I can't see any issues w the rotors either.

Yep, that one's garbage. Use the FSM to check out the irons for flatness, as well as the other housing to see if it's warped too. Look for any heat spots as well, since this one seems to have suffered a major overheat.

could be rust under the sleeve, i can't see how heat could warp the sleeve since the engine would have to be running in order to do that and the rotor would be hitting it and locking the engine up.

perhaps it was in a fire, stored where something caught the edge, but... who knows, randomness.

pitch it and find another, it's not a common problem.

Yeah luckily I was planning a rebuild for another car, but I need this one first. So most of my rebuild parts including goopy housings will be used for this build.
