hotter coolant temps with front mount

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that after putting in a front mount IC, that they have hotter coolant temps that before. My temps never get much over 90C, which is acceptable, I would like them to be lower, especially since I have the MazdaComp 3" radiator. The thing is that when the car is moving the temps actually get a hotter than when the car comes to a stop. I have a really nice 16" SPAL fan which moves a lot of air. I have also removed the AC condensor in hopes of getting more airflow to the radiator. This is in contrast to my friends TII with the stock radiator, we did a run yesterday 1st-4th and the guage barely moved off of thermostat 82C. Short of getting another nose for the car that will let in more air, I have thought of fabricating my IC piping a bit so that I can lay the IC down, or at least at more of an angle so that i can route more air to the radiator. Also can anyone that is running an aftermarket radiator in the range of 2.5-3" thick tell me what coolant temps you are running. I am running a Greedy water temp guage.

Either way, a front mount will cause coolant temps to go up as it restricts airflow to the rad...I have this problem now, and will be solving it by purchasing a Fluidyne rad to replace the stocker.

It is a SPAL electric fan 16", no i currently do not have th ebelly pan on the car, yes i know that i should, but it doesn't fit right with the piping to the IC. I want to fabricate my own out of aluminum or something.

yes the temps will go up with a FMIC. 90 sounds fine to me. I guess it *could* be a bit lower. make sure you have ducting so all air goes through the rad, and can't get around. change and flush your coolant and change your thermostat and see what happens.

I'm hitting up to 100C right now with stock rad and no FMIC. I need a bigger rad.

Get a shroud made and hack at the OE belly pan till you can get it to fit.
