Hot battery ground and low volts to FP?
Hot battery ground and low volts to FP?
So I have been working out a lot of bugs and recently found what looks like a 3000gt fuel pump running in the car "s5 tll", but it's only receiving 6.8-7.2 volts should it be at a consistent 12v? And also my negative on the battery is suuuper hot, any ideas or where should I start?
be sure you attached the ground strap at the bellhousing, it sometimes gets forgotten about and that tiny ground wire from the transmission to firewall is taking alot of abuse.
the pump should be getting about 10.5v while idling.

What side of the car is the ground strap on? Can it be seen from the engine bay? Or jack up the car? Also I'm really bad with wiring but since im getting really low volts at idle and under load, what should I check and work back in terms of getting the correct volts to the FP?

the ground strap mounts to either the top starter bolt or the bellhousing bolt just below the oil filter, on the driver's side of the engine bay.
measure the voltage at the battery for a starting point, it should be between 13 and 14.5 volts with the engine running.
