Horn blows tail light fuse

On my s5 t2 when I hit the horn button the horn doesn't blow but the fuse for the stop light tail light blows. I have an after market steering wheel and the voltage coming into the horn button is 12vdc. Seems weird since when you hit the button you're basically shorting it out. Any ideas tips and hints are appreciated!!
Thanks!!

I think what the car is trying to say is "Just HIT IT"! ..no warning..(like ya usually do when you pick up chicks!)..that should be the new Nike Saying..lol!

The wire shouldn't have 12v coming out of it.That means when you hit the horn it puts 12v to ground. No wonder you are blowing a fuse.Whatever is in that circuit gets protected with the fuse blowing,so I would investigate how that wire "got there",since it is an aftermarket set up.Something is not right.

How would the horn work if it didn't have 12v on that wire?

well it's not getting 12v at all or by that wire as it blows a fuse.,so something is not right.

Does the car have an airbag and does it have the factory alarm. Chances are the horn relay in the CPU is snafu but it could be caused by other factors depending on whether you have the air bag/alarm.

I have no idea about the alarm or air bag... But I'm pretty certain the" CPU " probably has a bad solder joint. Ur still don't understand how there's 12v in that horn wire. Normally in other cars I've dealt with was a ground contact wire.

Well you need to find out if it has the bag/alarm. The wire connected to the horn switch from the relay awaits a ground signal to activate the horn. The ground signal is sent to the relay coil. The coil has 12 volts on one side as it is powered by the Stop fuse. It is possible that this voltage is passing through the coil and would explain why you are reading 12 volts at the wire at the steering wheel.
