hood scoops and 2nd gens
Anyone out there thought about putting a hood scoop over the air filter when changing to a hi flow cone style air filter? i've been listening to people say how to run dryer hose from the grille and up and all sorts of things, but a hood scoop would be easy and effective. Anyone tried it? if so how? any pics? thanks

They may look trick, but I have doubts about their effectiveness...
I doubt they work... right behind the hole is metal from the headlight. and then the rubber hood seal which you have to take off... you need to make on one the hood over the filter. some one has.
A friend of mine had one on his 240sx. It came from a 300z. (The earlier square body style - like 83-85 era) It wa set up directly over the air intake and was actually functional after he gave in and decided to cut the hood. (He just had it on there for looks originally - what a rikki!) I don't know exactly how much power that mod alone made due to the fact that he installed several other things at the same time. It certainly can't hurt to make more air accessible to your intake. I know someone has tried it on a 7 and can vouch for improvement. I'm not going to try though, I think one scoop is enough on my T2!

i have that border one too, i got it from some guy in hawaii for $115 shipped. i don't have before and after intake temps, but it did make a difference. sure i had to cut up the headlight bracket a little to get the cover to fit, but it was worth it. just a little time with the dremel and it worked fine. also removing the little rubber thing on the hood is necessary, but well worth it i think. and then if u make a little cold air box to go along with the headlight cover, the difference is night and day with the temps around the filter, and the temps in the engine bay.
here is a pic w/ the headlight cover on

also, i know someone on here did a custom little scoop on the hood right above the intake, so u might want to do a search or something
