Hood question. FC3S
I bought a used carbon fiber hood today. The carbon seems to have a greenish tint which leads me to believe the builder used carbon basalt to save money. I've been trying to find out exactly how they're made/made of so I have some info on it and can't find it anywhere.
Does anyone know this hood? Thanks for looking.

Looks like "my new hood" if you ship it to me!
Sorry JJ,I had to..lol
I have to critique it though and say that they could have put the scoop in the middle.
I know the stock TII hood scoop is offset but having it in the middle makes it look better in my opinion.
I have seen that style but since the scoop is an aftermarket add on,I am not sure.

theres almost always a id plate or tag sanwiched between layers on the underside,if not im wondering if its not a homemade job although thats one hell of a project to take on,but with all the fancy stuff added such as the scoops i kinda doubt it
Haha. So the underbelly looks to be plastic for support. The hood is carbon fiber (carbon basalt I believe). In the right front corner there is a watermark in the resin that says "WINDS" and that's all I can find on it. The off center scoop is fiber glass bottom with 3k carbon on top and is built into the hood (so it's original to the hood). There's no plate anywhere on it unforunately.
I picked it up along with a CPU, two s4 turbo cores, a perfect R/F quarter panel, and some spare parts all for $175. I think that even a crappy hood was definitely worth it.
As to you Styx... I drove four hours with that beast strapped to the hood of a ford focus to get it home. The only way it's goin' anywhere is on my FC. Good try though lol

This hood mystery starting to **** me off. After months of random searching I heavenly found One person with the same hood. On one of his descriptions he labeled it carbon Kevlar jdm re amemiya hood. I cant find anything backing this up. Here's his pages.

greensh tint/coloring is UV degradation. it will sand out if you really wanted to sand it. but that kind of defeats the point.
why are you questioning how it was made? if you find out what exactly is the plan after that?
curiosity is getting me here.

As for why I wanted to know how it was made was because there was UV damage and I wanted to repair it. Basically I sanded if out and threw a few layers of urethane clear on it and wet sanded it. The pictures don't do it justice.
