Hood pins on a T2.

Anyone have hood pins on there 2nd gen. rx? I was recently in a fender bender, and my mount where the hood latch lines up got pushed back some, so I am thinking about just getting hood pins? What are some of the advantages and disadvantages? Does anyone have any pics?

Not a big deal to install, here's where mine are:

If you look just below where you see mine mounted, there, you'll see some holes that you can use to mount the pins. Mount the pins, roughly at the height you want them. Then put dabs of grease on each pin. Let the hood close til you touch the pins. Drill your hole through the first layer using the dots of grease as you guide. Open the holes slowly until you can get the pins thru the first layer. Then reapply the grease, and repeat for the top layer.

Give me a holler if you want pics of the actual pin locations, and I'll go take a few.

Disadvantages?&nbsp They are ILLEGAL.
Why?&nbsp DOT mandates the hood locking mechanism be a "two-stage" lock.&nbsp This is why you con pop the hood (1st stage) and then need to pull the lever (2nd stage) to release the hood - this prevents accidental opening of the hood if it doesn't happened to be totally locked down.&nbsp Hood pins, obviously, are not a two-stage hood locking device...

Hmm, what about the fact that you have 2 pins? Isn't that 2 stage? LOL J/K

I have a write-up on how to install them on my site. Under How-To's then under safety

Hope you are stocked up on spare batteries. They should get stolen (along with anything else valuable) fairly regularly with no inside hood release.

Do you have an alarm? How easily do you think it's disabled when it has no power?

I think you better read your local traffic code before making assumptions like this...
