Torque brace for a turbo.

Goals:
1) To be able to nail 3rd when in a hurry.
2) Take some stress off the engine mounts.

It's made from stainless tube.
The engine end fits the sleeve around the IC mount bolt.
The body end has an oversized hole at the strut stud.
It's sandwiched between two chunks of rubber with no metal to metal contact.

I'm used to 3rd being in a certain place during normal driving.
When leaving 2nd under high power the engine jumps left, and I sometimes hit the gate between 3rd & 5th.

If you really have that much movement and you can't seem to get used to it have you taken a look at your engine and transsmission mounts? How are their condition. They do make competition mounts for that also.

Have you considered mounting at the three bolts that hold the air pump bracket on? I would worry about one bolt shearing off (or shearing off the bracket it is attached to).

I have not actually inspected the mounts.
Engine movement under load was about 3/8" at the IC.
I assumed if the mounts were bad, it would have been more?

I bent my budget getting this fixer-upper on the road, so a competition brace was out of reach.
The strut tower brace was only $30 shipped.

Plus $15 S&H. That's what I installed - the one from Megan racing - pretty nice.
