Question Hold accelerator, revs unstable

I'm having intermittent problems...

13B EFI

What happens is when im parked (or driving), but just for example say I'm sitting in my drive and hold the pedal down so the revs are about 2000. The revs drop to about 1700 then jump back to 2000 and back and fourth, occasionally backfiring...

This happens for any rpm up to about 3000..

If I'm over 3000rpm tho, she is pretty damn smooth.

One thing I noticed was that after about 3000 rpm, the TPS reaches maximum extension, and I guess the computer just goes on the MAP sensor from them.

Would this be my TPS? Anything else I should be considering? Maybe fuel? My EFI pump has made some weird whining sounds on hot days...

Cheers,

Paul.

I'm wondering maybe it's fixable without replacing the TPS.. maybe its a wire worn thru from rubbing on something or something in the TPS that can be fixed?? Perhaps.

Any ideas?

It's a bit annoying, if I want to accelerate hard there is always a jolt when you push the pedal past the extent of the TPS..
