HKS SSBOV - @%#@$# Snap ring!!!

OMG , this thing is starting to **** me off. I have snap ring pliers but they keep slipping.

Can anybody offer any tips on getting the BOV into it's flange?

i didn't even use the pliers since the body of the valve gets in the way...

place the snap ring on the inside edge of the flange on the BOV then put the valve and o-ring in place and hold the valve down against the housing while you dip the back edge of the snap ring into the groove(the face opposite the opening) and then use a flat tipped screwdriver and press it on the flat edge exposed on one side of the snap ring pushing it down at an angle to force it into the groove, use the flat tip screwdriver to spread the ring as deep into it's groove on the now installed side as possible. do the same procedure on the other side of it and it should be fine.

btw, i will not be held accountable if you stab yourself with the screwdriver.

I feel your pain. I broke two pairs of snap ring pliers trying to get mine on.

welll actually i bought my snap ring from home depot(the rotary racing store), bought an external snap ring(inverted) so it was easier to install and i was in no way going to feed the hungry giant by paying $6 for an o-ring and $8 for a ******* snap ring from HKS!

anyways, i have installed it and taken it off numerous times without much difficulty.

Your SSQV should have come with both the snap ring and the o-ring... Even if it was just the universal one.
