Thier S4 TII full exhaust set up is nice, if you can find one and afford it. I have an HKS off road presilencer/cat? on my NA. Took a good deal of the tinny sound out when I had a hollowed cat and headers.

why would the product be of less quality on a piston engine versus a rotary?

i will answer your question even though i think this thread was a waste of time since you can see HKS in just about everybody's signatures on this forum.

HKS is a well known manuffacturer and builds quality products for not only piston engines but for rotary powered one's as well.

HKS is good quality but overpriced. If you find a good deal take it otherwise go with a different brand for the most part. You definately pay for the HKS name.

i was just saying things for a rotary r different right so they might have not put forth as much effort on there rotary products as much as there piston type stuff

I like the HKS intake I got for my FC, the quality is there. But in all honesty you are paying for the name.

I got it. Just playin and I like the hks stuff on my car. The receipts show that they cost a lot, but they are nice. Also if you have a turbo and buy the hks powerflow intake kit....your turbo will sound a lot louder. Even on piston engines. My friend with an mr2 turbo got jealous of my loud turbo and sold his k&n setup

The intake is not very good at filtering stuff out, but it flows well at least. I had an HKS sport exhaust on my car, and I was very pleased with it.

Did you get that info from that site comparing the hks, apexi, k&n, etc? That test was bs.

The only HKS part that I could afford was the AFM Intake adaptor, I dont plan on buying anything else from them, too much $$$$$.

Their stuff is expensive, but I've never had ANY problems with fitment or quality. I've had my Hiper exhaust on for four years now, in all kinds of weather, and its held up incredibly well. I highly reccomend them, especially if you can pick up some slightly used stuff for cheap.

You gotta be kidding me. HKS is a very reknown and prestigious company. There is a reason for numerous 9 second Skylines, Supras, and RX'7s in japan that sport nothing but HKS. Look up the history ; ) Have to pay for quality.

Spoken like a true noob.. There are MANY parts out there that are of the same quality and much cheaper than HKS branded parts. Hell, a shitty company like APC can field a 9 second car if they wanted to.

APC does field one. Pretty sure it's a civic.

Anyway, in response to the question, HKS makes great stuff. Some people prefer to buy expensive things. And really, so long as you are getting a quality part, who cares if it costs more. I don't feel bad about spending a little extra money on a quality part. Do you?

Now, that's the correct answer, just because something is expensive dosent make it better, but certain companies (expensive) livelihoods depend on quality.

the freakin kid never said anything about (if its expensive) its better...he said its a well known comapny, and very true about 9 sec 7's, supras, and the gtr's. He for got to say that its a very good quality part and very worth the 255 for a downpipe and 600 for a full cat-back exhaust and 125 for the intake...just like evileagle said.."some people prefer to buy expensive things"..me beeing one of them i love hks i have liked then even before i for my first car when i was 15 so i dont know i guess "just expect what you pay for".

Hks stuff is very expensive, but if you use their system and all their parts, everything works very well together. Their quality is very high as is typical of alot of Japanese stuff, but only in the end as good as the person using it....
I got to sample some of their products that are kinda gimmicky looking, but that **** works, like the detonation amplifier for tuning, listening to a motor with headphones is hard to tune from, but once you know what you are listening for, the usefullness of tools like that is great..Their stuff is expensive here, but its also the most expensive in Japan as well.. I cant say enough about their larger frame turbos, the exhaut sides are very well balanced to the compressor side, in the tug of war for power and spool..
The transmission I have from them is very good as well.. Top knotch stuff.. and worth the money...Max
