I have to say, I've used HKS stuff for many cars that I have, not one problem.
Nothing has ever fell apart. I do agree that the foam filter media does get dirty quickly, which I should think is proof that it actually filters ok. It does get expensive really quickly too, as they are not cheap. I also love the sound it makes, hehe...I'd say keep it and slap it on!
