HKS Carbon-Ti vs. Full Titanium muffler
Just wondering which one you guys thing is better. I know the full titanium is more expensive and I am leaning towards this one but just wanted a bit of input. Also it will be going on a white car. Thanks

it is just a preference. Some people like the look of titanium as I do. Some people are sick of the SS look and powdercoat their mufflers. Like I said the muffler choice is for aesthetics.

I'm assuming you're planning on using the universal muffler in a custom single? It doesn't really matter either way. Weight will be negligable. The inlet, and shell sizes are all identical for both units, 75 and 170 mm, the tip for the Carbon-Ti is 5mm bigger than the Titanium's 115 mm tip. Performance wise, there won't be any difference between the two that you will be able to detect. Which leaves it down to looks and cost. Do you have wads of cash to blow and love the look of Titanium? You've already answered your own question then. If you want the same dimensions then the Carbon-Ti is obviously the better deal as it is cheaper and will flow exactly the same. Not to mention that you can find brand new universal cabon-ti's on Ebay for $100 off of what HKS lists as msrp. But pick whatever you like, performance wise, they are identical.

P.S. There are two other things to consider that I omitted: 1) The Titanium "may" sound slightly difference than the Carbon-Ti. I've never personally heard one compared to my own Carbon-Ti, but I can't imagine there being much difference, if any. (Mine sounds AWESOME!) 2) If you want to run the HKS silencer with your muffler, and it's important to you, you might want the Titanium. None of the HKS silencers seem to work with the universal Carbon-Ti muffler. Why this is so is beyond me as it is a very popular muffler. You can, however, buy a 120 mm silencer from HKS and cut it down to size so that it will work with the Carbon-Ti, which is what I plan on doing. Good luck!

P.P.S. Once the muffler gets dirty, you can hardly notice the carbon fiber look it's supposed to have, so don't sweat it too much. I kind of like it, because I'm not a real big fan of the big shiny can look, and the carbon fiber is a lot less "look at me!"-ish if you can imagine. =) It almost looks like it belongs there. I didn't have it mounted at a funny angle or sticking out or anything though. Just tucked in and flush with the bumper. It looks awesome.

a lot of CF mufflers arnt really CF, they are stainless wraped in CF. A 100% CF muff (stainless end caps) would be really nice though. It is common in race cars that have mufflers and a lot of sport bikes have them.
