hissing sound from engine bay

i was driving my 88gxl and when i pulled into my driveway, i noticed smoke comeing from my exhaust pipes. i turned off the car and opened the hood to hear a hissing sound comeing from the front. it sounds like it is comeing from my radiator like i overheated it or someting but the temp guage was in the normal range. think my coolant seals are busted? how do i check? thanks

Maybe you have a pinhole or crack in the hoses. Look especially at the heater hoses and BAC valve water hose.

so i went out about 30 min later and listened for the hiss, gone. so i cautiously started the engine and looked for smoke and listened. the engine sounded fine but i noticed a little white smoke comeing from the exhaust. not just that, but it smelled sweet. now i am almost sure that i am burning coolant but i dont know if its from inside the engine, or what. by the way, anyone know a good wankel rebuilder in the St. Louis area? that or is anyone selling a TII engine+trans?

I had a crack in my radiator and it made that sound. If you warm the car up and it makes the sound, 99.99% sure that its something in the coolant system. Check around. And hope you don't hear the dreaded low coolant buzzer

It the smoke smells sweet and it's coming out of the tailpipe, you probably have an internal coolant leak in the engine.
