highest water temp safe for running
what is the highest water temperature that is safe for rotary's to run at?
im not talking i about having overheating problems im talking about pushing the car really hard and when it is considered an over heating situation

On FD the electric cooling fans don't even come on at low speed until 105 C (221 F) straight from the factory. We would all prefer it to run much cooler than that, but it shows that the car will survive at that temperature for sustained periods of time. The Rx-8 also runs the fans at a pretty high temperature. It might be for emissions purposes.

FSM diagram is for the revised FD cooling system after the recall Mazda had.

A good cooling system will keep the temperatures right around thermostat temp (180F). 226F is far from ideal, but that's not surprising for an FD. The stock FD cooling system is subpar to begin with.
yeah i have an rx8 and the damn number 1 fan on that thing dosent kick on until 206F and the 2nd fan kicks on at 212F...i even have a ron davis radiator and upgraded waterpump!! there are some companies that sell a ECU reflash that lowers the temp that the fans kick on to 190F for number 1 and 195F for number 2 so im thinking they let them run hot for emissions purposes...however on my FC i have stock waterpump, koyo rad and black magic 180 E-fan and i rarely see over 185F and this car has 500WHP and i drive it hard
