If your original is worn out or poorly grounded, then yes. But an upgraded fuel pump is mainly for an engine that needs that extra fuel to prevent detonation from running lean. Check your voltage at the pump harness and you can also measure the flow (I believe the rate or cc/minute are listed in the Haynes manual)

If you need a new fuel pump, get a Walbro. Cheaper than a factory replacement and flows 255 lph. I believe RX7Store has them.

It isn't a rule that the more fuel you have the more power you get. More like the opposite, I guess. You get more power usually when you lean your car out but its not safe. You probably won't need a fuel pump for your NA unless you have the engine ported plus every other mod you can get. Would be a good idea to test the voltage thats getting to your fuel pump under WOT.

Yes it is cheaper, but again remember, a high flow fuel pump will make an all stock engine run very-very rich, unless you upgrade the fuel pressure regulator too.

Running rich will cause a noticable loss of power, loss of milage, shortened spark plug life, harder hot starts, and shortened catalytic converter life (if you still have cats on).

No, shoving more fuel in the engine with everything else kept the same will actually surpress power.

I've got a large bosch fuel pump on a '87 TurboII with stock(new) injectors. Its not in an RX7, has no cats, no smog controls and am running a Haltech E6K. The exhaust pipe looks black inside and the exhaust really smells bad.(stinks) Plugs are very black when removed. So, what your saying is that with a larger than stock fuel pump(this one is really big), that I should lean back on the fuel.(injection time, etc?)

Yes, unless you have an aftermarket FPR that can adust the fuel rail pressure back down...

The stock injectors, and fuel pump are good to just about anything the intake manifold will flow. I just put down 167rwhp in my n/a with every mod possiable. Before the s-afc, the engine was running nearly 10-1 a/f ratio, with the stock injectors. So, unless you plan on some serious porting, nitrous, etc. I'd keep the stock fuel system, unless its worn out. CJ

hmm, I was wondering, if I were running say, a 50 -100 hp shot of Nitrous (thinking either zex or nos) on a '90 GTU, would a TII fuel pump be enough of a security measure against popping the engine? or is there something else that I should get as well?

O.k. let me get this right I have a 88 10th A.E. The engine has been street ported, alum flywheel , fuel cut defender and a bonze race exhaust.I'm installing a fMI in the next few weeks.I've already bought a walboro fuel pump, center force dual friction clutch and a apexi safc.I'm trying to do one thing at a time.I've noticed that most of the guys on this forum are running larger injectors up to 1600.What problems will I run into installing say 720 or larger injectors. My car is running great at the time but I want more power. What should I do next before I install the fuel pump and s-afc.
