HI everyone...new to this site..need some opinions/answers

hello everyone...im new to this site and i have some questions and need some opinions.

im in the market for a 89-91 Turbo II...i am not new to FC's(my brother use to own a 87 gxl, i use to own a 86 TII)..i now want another FC..this time a S5..and this time i want to build it..used the previouse FC's for commuting and then sold them..anyways

im looking for a completely stock, very clean, 89-91 TII with black interior, on the west coast(i dont want a midwest car due to rust)

my budget is $7500 for the car, routine maintence, and a fresh rebuilt motor with new seals and a street port

ive been watching a few cars that fit my description and they all go for around $3-$5000 OBO...depending on motor condition(cheaper ones need rebuild)

1.which colors in 89-91 came with black interior?
2.where is the best place to send a rotory engine for rebuild and street porting?
3.where is the best place to buy used j-spec rotory engines?
4.what 86-91 FC's did not come with power steering?
5.what 86-91 FC's did not come with ABS?
6.is it woth removing the abs time and money wise?

my goal for this car is to be in the 350 rwhp range, and load it with JDM goodies from wheels, bodykit, suspension, interior, and performance but still have it as a daily driver in the warm season...im not really into drifting, racing, or car shows at all..i just like to build nice cars and drive them...i would like to go to meets and bbq's with other 7 owners though.

The first thing people are gonna say are check the FAQ for the FC and What did the FC come with/ Options & standard features, so my best guess is to check that. And I'll look up some sites for the motors and stuff.

if you want to build a motor, i still say turbo a high compression 6 port. i just like it. full standalone, streetport, full ehxaust, intake, bigger turbo. upgraded fuel system. youll hit 350.

i dont wanna go all out power...id like it to remain somewhat reliable...maybe 350 rwhp is to much...id like to worry about getting the car, getting it to run right, and taking car of interior/exterior before i go all out crazy with the power mods...im looking to street port a 13b-t, downpipe, catback exhaust, air filter, and other basic mods mods...im more worried about bodywork and suspension..after those thinsg are doen ill spend more time under the hood..but firts i need a car

Yep, check faqs for the info on what cars came with what. If you cant find it there, Icemark prob knows it.
As for the ABS, DO NOT get rid of it. It is a very small weight penalty, especially with 350 WHP, and it is a huge saftey feature. I have had some very hairy moments, one of which almost got me killed, as a result of not having ABS. Just curious, but why were you thinking of getting rid of it? It doesnt reduce feel at all and increases braking performance.
I know corksport (www.corksport.com) sells JDM engines. They seem to have good prices and I havent heard anything bad about them. I personally think you would be better off getting a TII with an old motor and getting it rebuilt. That way you know the motor is good and you can get it ported, etc.
There are several places to get the rebuild done, not sure of any in your area, though. Pineapple racing builds good motors, though im not sure of their quality as of late. Atkins does a good job for a good price - 2200, or 3350 with new housings and oil pump. I know theres other good ones im leaving out, maybe others will add them in.

the reason i wanted to get rid of abs is because im used to not having it and i dont trust it..i like to feel the pedal and apply or relieve pressure as need'd..abs takes that away from you in a way...its not a big deal if i have it or not really..i can always give it a try and decide later if i want to keep it or not

ill check out corksport

rotaryresurrection.com does streetporting and they seem to have a good reputation from what i can find..

i dont care about the cars motor condition as long as its complete, stock, and in the car...i would prefer one that runs so i could drive it back to illinois from the west coast instead of shipping it

Of course how could I forget rotaryresurrection. Kevin is very highly regarded and does excellent work from what I've heard around the boards. Also, he has the best prices around.

You want the hottest interior???

Best or cheapest? I recommend Rotary Resurrection
3.where is the best place to buy used j-spec rotory engines?
Corksport
4.what 86-91 FC's did not come with power steering?
Found in the options and standard features thred at the top of the 2nd gen technical section, but it comes down to the 86-87.5 base model and it was optional on the 86-88 Turbos
5.what 86-91 FC's did not come with ABS?
again found in the Standard Features and Options sticky thread... but 90% of the FC production didn't come with ABS. It was optional on the 88 GXL and Turbo, and standard only on the 89-91 Turbo
6.is it woth removing the abs time and money wise?
That depends on how good of a driver you are.

Sounds like you really need to read the sticky threads at the top of this 2nd gen techincal section!!!! Please read them before posting!

More likely they look at the production date tag, instead of the VIN.

There were US spec Turbos made in 86, just sold (and VIN indentified) as 87 model year.

You never see a Turbo with a 86 VIN...Hench no 86 US spec Turbos exist

i never look'd at the vin..i used the production date and the title..they both said 1986...and it was a turbo II..might have been late 86-early 87?

i have been reading all of the sticky's at the top of the 2nd gen forum..good info but alot of it is things you need to know after you buy an FC...thanks for the help guys...i think kevin from rotary resurrection is selling a black 91 TII..that car seems like it would be a perfect platform
