Hey Everyone! Newb to the site with some Q's for the Pros.

Hey everyone. I currently own a 2001 Toyota MR-S which has been widebodied and has a Hass Stage II Turbo, and am looking for a nice car to drive to work, and to do some drifting with. I originally was going to get an 85 Corolla GT-S, but I have always loved the Rotary and wanted to try something new.

I found an 88' Turbo II for 4,000 it has 155k on it. I know rotaries are tough to mesure life wise, but it seems like a great deal to me. Modding would be simple, exhaust mods, computer, radiator, and whatnot, nothing to major, just enough for some fun drifting and the 10 mile drive to work.

Any input about which car would be better would be great.

Thanks!
Jae

First the car will indephanitly need a rebuild if not done allready. 1k min if you do the work. Turbo will ned rebuilt. the sway bars and all the bushings and DDT are worn by now and alll need replaced. As well so will struts and springs. If you want to go drifting then go drifting no one can honestly exspect there daily car to be a drift drivin car and exspect to get to work each day that would be crazzy. If done right your mods you posted will cost you atleast 2,200 and the computer wont be substantial differance untill you upgrade the turbo and thus requiering bigger injectors your now at another $3,800 and the stock intercooler wont suport this new turbo so another grand on intercooler and piping.

All in all you will have a great car and alot faster then your toyota! Is this worth it to you? If you want the car and you dont want to do al lthis work. Get the car rebuild it put a RB exhoust on it and call it a day.

For the first few months the car will just be a staight daily driven car.

I dont want mad speed out of it, my MR-S weights 2200lbs and will be pushing over 250rwhp, so thats my go fast car.

How long before I would need a rebuild?

if you want a reliable, good on gas, an A-B car plus some drifting on the side, NA's are the way to go. And if you don't care about speed, I'd definitely say NA, since, like you said, you already have a fast car and gas and maintenance for an NA will be cheaper than a turbo

Id daily drive the MRS and have a RX-7 as the go fast car, they have alot more potential and are alot cheaper to modify.

First, http://www.kbb.com/ - I dunno why people think FC's are worth over $2k to $3k.

Second, if that is original engine miles, the engine needs to be rebuilt.

Third, if you're going to serious drift the FC, it's a royal pain in the ***.
