Hestiation, but changed TPS...

Ok. I know lots of people have posted about hesitation but I need answers please .

I own a 86 Rx7 Gx,

When I am at a stop in neutral and I put the pedal to the floor the car hesitates at about 4000Rpm the bounces off 3500 and back again. When I am push the pedal about half way it will climb all the way without hesitating, but when I push it all the way after 4000Rpm it will hesitate violently and slowly drop to 3500 then bounce off 4000, etc.

When Im driving it does exactly the same thing, but in 1st I can push the pedal about 3/4 of the way before the hesitation, 2nd I can push it about 1/2 way until hesitation, 3rd i can push it just under 2/3 but hesitation is much less violent, 4th I can barely push the pedal at all, and I haven't tried 5th

like I said I have changed the tps and I have cleaned my throttle body. I also tightened my throttle cable(was very loose). when I first bought the car the guy that sold it to me told me it didn't run because it was sitting so long but I brought it to my shop and changed oil, drained fuel tank(very Bad fuel...), put a battery in it, took my cats off and gutted them, dumped an excessive amount of fuel injector cleaner in the tank, changed plugs and wires, and changed the air filter.

The car fired right up after all that... but ran really really bad, idled very rough and the rpms climbed very slow and wouldn't go past 3000. the exhaust blew out a bunch of mouse nests and such. One day i left the car runing for about 2 hours and it ran way better(guessing the injector cleaner did its job) but thats when I noticed that it hesitated at 3500 - 4000 Rpm.

When I pulled my exhaust off I didnt have the gaskets and its leaking from 3 joints... And could be partly plugged from nests maybe.

When I turned the engine over with the plugs out three holes shot out barely any fuel but the lower front one shot out a jet of fuel, could be a sticking injector maybe?(also which injector would that be?)

The Intake housing had about 30 holes drilled in it to increase air flow but it seems to run a little better when I makeshift cover them up. Was also cracked but I sealed it up.

I have not changed the fuel filter yet could that cause it?

Any help or suggestions you have to try and info you can supply would be Very helpful... I bought this car for $600 Cdn and it has 114000kms on it, not a spot of rust and I want to restore it to mint.

Thanx

I replaced the gaskets in the exhaust system and the hesitation is almost gone... It no longer happens in neutral but it happens when driving, However it now powers through it. If I keep the pedal to the floor the hesitation still occurs but the Rpm still climb all the way through.

I'm guessing that the holes in the air box are the reason its not completely fix yet, so I'm gonna cover them and try it again... Hope it works
