hesitation / lack of power
i have searched the forum under the topic of TPS to see if i could locate my problem and it seems my problem is a little different.
first of all, i have a 1988 Vert, all stock besides a cat back exhaust. just bought it yesterday. the problem is, after i bought the car i drove it home (30+ miles) and it drove fine. everything was great. seemed like it was lacking a little power but nothing to complain about. anyway, today i started the car and after it warmed up i reved it a few times and it seemed to be fine but was making a weird noise. so i decided to drive it around the block and it was lacking so much power and if i floored it in second or third the car would just hold its rmp and hesitate. however, if i acclerated slowly it would not hesitate. i was also getting this horrible noise coming from under the shifter. i will check the TPS tomorrow when the sun is out but im not sure that is the problem. any thoughts?

you said you were driving around the block, so you must of not have been going fast. putting the car in 3rd or 4th gear in that situation and accelerating and the fact that your noise was coming from the shifter area I would suspect a worn out/slipping clutch or drivetrain problem.
