Heres the deal boys:

I'm swapping my 88 automatic to 5 speed in the near future, i was wondering if there is anything other than a light weight flywheel i could get to drop weight and / or gain horse power....no i don't want a T2 and no i don't want NOS

I'm keeping my 7 n/a........ for every day driver purposes.........I still want it to have a lil more pep though, I've heard of someone using the gearing from a 85 gls-se in a 2nd gen transmission housing cuz its geared a lil lower.

How much will i lose on my top end in doing that. Right now i can hit 210km/s no problem, can anyone take a guess what what my new top speed would be?

has anyone in here done this?

suggestions and comments appreciated

Thanks
Damien

what do you already have done to it??? I have a higher gear ratio in the rear of mine to gain more top end. you could do the basics, exhaust, intake. I am debating a supercharger or just a turbo swap.

Lets see you can buy:

an intake for about $80-90
have a custom exhaust built that would be like $4-500
get an LSD rear end and 4.3 gears like $500
Some pineapple racing sleeves $50 plus your old sleeves
remove the air pump and emmisions crap. 20 for the block off plates
switch to a manual steering rack $400

............. Maybe the got to me.. but... wouldnt higher (numerically) gears be better for more low end? Take fore example, the more teeth on 1st gear on a mountain bike compaired to the way less on say 8th gear. Higher numerically=more low end. Wouldnt a 3.9 gear be better for top end speed? Accually.. .yeah.. i know thats true. Go team. I got some a 3.9 ill sell/trade ya for your 4.33
