I started my car yesterday and white smoke came out of everywhere...it was coming out the exhaust and also where the shifter is...I could also see it coming from the firewall area...not sure which exact part it was coming from...smoked a long time when i kept the revs to like 5k...then it stopped....smoked a little...then stopped again...smells like gas and something else which i know not of...i dont see any coolant leaks or anything...any help or insight is appreciated...thanks!

Is the car a manual or auto transmission?
Is your car Turbo or NA?
When did you rev the car to 5k? (During initial start up/warming period or while on the road?)
Did you notice any puddles on the ground? Did you recently have anything replaced?
Did you have the A/C on? Any leaks in the water reservoir bottle?
Please provide more information.

First thing to do is inspect all of your coolant hoses. A pinhole leak will spray coolant everywhere, but wont necessarily pool on the ground, as it is a small spraw, and just covers everything (Don't ask me how I know). Take a really close look at the hose that goes from the block to the firewall, on the driver's side, under the oil filter. They are prone to failing due to oil dripping on them.
