Help. Weird Hissing Noise.
90 n/a. I just got it back from the mechanic who installed a new clutch for me cause mine was entirely gone. So i'm driving it around and i'm getting used to the clutch cause new clutches always feel funny. Anyway so i'm giving it gas and i notice this weird hissing sound, so i let the gas go and it stops. I give it more gas and it makes the hissing sound, but stops when i let go of the gas. I'm going to bring it back tomorrow to see if they know what it is because they've been fixing them for a while, but does anyone know what i'm talking about? what the problem might be?

i think your air pump silencer got detached. this is hopefully a realy minor problem. all you have to do is stick the 1'' dia. rubber tube back over the air control valve that sits just above the exhaust manifold. i was silly enough to take that tubing off in an attempt to save weight and it made the exact sounds you decribed. odds are good this is the culprit if the engine runs fine otherwise. if not it might be a vac leak.
all the tubing does is form a sort of rubber muffler for the air pum/vac assembly so you dont get the goofy noise.
