help: ss oil cooler hose

I bought a set of ss oil cooler hoses from corksport and have been trying to install them for the past couple days. I got the lower longer hose in with a little muscling, but now I can't get the top shorter hose on. It seems that the hoses are too stiff and that it should have come with a pre-bent section to twist around corners.

I think its just me since many people have bought these hoses and I've searched this forum and haven't found anyone with any problems installing them. Can anyone snap some shots of how they routed the shorter ss hose? or some installation tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I bought the racing beat ones. They used AN fittings that swiveled I still found it a PITA. Found it easiest having everything pulled and out of the way.

I have the fan and shroud, radiator, and a/c belt out. I wanted to take out the a/c condensor out also, but I notice that the way I'm routing the hose, the condensor isn't in the way. Whats getting in the way the most is the metal piece where the radiator and condensor is mounted on to, but that's apart of the body and theres no moving that. If i could only have another inch of veritical movement.

I've tried it with the oil cooler mounted, doesn't work. I've tried unmounting it, but once the hoses are on, can't mount the cooler back on. I'm I the only one with this problem?

i have a write up on how to do this...its kind of old and not really descript but i pulled off my oil cooler while doing this so i could empty out the old nasty oil in it. I used the mazdatrix SS lines...hope this helps

Alright so here is my full Write up on how to remove your old oil cooler lines and install the new SS ones from mazdatrix!
Before you do anything you need to drain your oil !!!!
First you need to buy 3 flange wrenches
21mm
23mm
27mm
1.alright now jack up your car on the drivers side front jack point.
2.now get under the car and find your rear oil cooler line banjo fitting (A banjo bolt is the type of bolt used, it's hollow so the oil can flow through it.)
3. attach the 23mm wrench to it on an angle looking like this \
4. now take the 21mm wrench and make it at a perpindicular angle to the ground and pushing agains the 23 mm so they both look like this together \
I
5. Now lower the jack so the force of the 21mm wrench pushes the 23 mm wrench to make it unscrew itself.
6. now just unscrew the banjo fitting.
now moving onto the front banjo fitting
7. get the 27mm wrench and the 21 mm and put the 21 mm on the nut closest to the engine and then the 27 on the outer nut...turn and loosen....it takes a bit of time and strength to undo this banjo fitting...you might want to use a rubber mallet
8. now remove your oil cooler itself
9. There are 4 10mm screws...so get out your socket wrench kit.
10. remove the 4 10mm screws and push the oil cooler off of its brackets. (i used my feet to push it out of its brackets because that thing is in there tight!
11. now you have your oil cooler off with the two lines still attached to it
12. now use the 23 mm on the last two banjo fittings...just put the oil cooler on the floor with a towel under it and then put a towel over it and make sure you wear some shoes.
13. put one foot and your weight on the oil cooler then attach the 23mm wrench to your desired banjo fitting and use that rubber mallet and hammer away!
14. do the same for the last banjo fitting!
15. now get your new oil cooler lines and line screw them onto the oil cooler a little more than finger tight so they can still move around.
16. now attach the other two ends of your oil cooler lines to your engine....remember use the new washers that came with the SS oil cooler lines.
17. now remount your oil cooler
18. once its remounted tighten all those banjo fittings as tight as possible!
19. then put new oil in your car and put a new oil filter K and N is the only way to go
20. now start your car..she should burn oil for a minute or so..then after that you will notice better gas mileage better idling and better engine sound. i love them and for the price nothing beats it

thanks guys for all your help. I'm inspired to give it another try.

When you mounted the oil cooler back on, did you install the mount on the oil cooler then, installed the oil cooler on the car. Or install the mount on the car, then install the oil cooler on the mount?

My I add a 1a. to your instructions. Use a jack stand before you get under the car.

It's a very nice write-up. I only said that because I had a friend when I was a lot younger get crushed under his Camaro we were working on when the jack broke.
