help on rearend question?

help on rearend question?
ok whenever i shift up or down my rearend makes a clunk sound. my friend said that its the support mounts for the rearend. he said he cut his off, would it be safe to do this. anyone else done it. what do you guys think?

the mount that holds the rear end up is broken. with it like that the rear end moves up and down and can break the drive shaft. be easy on it, and go buy the mount for the third member at mazda. i dont know how or why your friend "cut it off".
