Help Pulling Engine! <Please!>
Hey everyone!,
I'm planning on pulling my engine this weekend (1990 N/A), and have it stripped down. The Chilton's manual (I know, i know, time for the FSM ) says to lift it using the lifting brackets -- I can see one near the front of the engine.
Anyone know where the lifting points on the motor are?
Thanks a bunch!,
Manolis

There one near the back of the Throttle body.
Use a engine leveler!!!!!
Lift the leveler and you'll be a happier camper.
NOW
there is a bolt BEHIND the starter.
Dont forget that, you MUST remove the starter.
And please, don't be so crude as to hang it by the wires.
Hopefully, your more methodical than to NOT be this careful.
Others have noticed this in my posts and pictures, nut i clean EVERYTHING within an inch of its life. everything. even stuff thats not related to the work. It maks for a MUCH nicer engine bay, and re-assembly goes SO much faster. I don't know why, but i think its because you rubbed your hand ofver every inch of the car and have "reality" on every bump and surface.
It is an interesting experience.

I like your fix-it theology , and yes i mean to use that word to denote religion .Repair , modification , and fabrication are religions to some of us . There is a book i recommend to anyone who works on cars , boats , RV's , motorcycles , whatever , it really touches some otherwise intangible points on the quality of the work we do , in whatever we do . The book is called "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" . There is a small quippet in the book regarding what one can make for their mode of transportation with a simpl lathe , grinder , and drill press. Imagine discovering you cannot buy a particular part for your vehicle , not nessesarily one nessesary for operation , but someting you would really like to have (like a glass sliding sunroof for us 2nd gen owners) . How many of you would derive great feeling of bliss driving around in something that had your own hand made parts operating within it. If this kind of thing appeals to you , you are in one form or another a mechanical artisan , and you should explore it. I am done with my deep thoughts for today.
