help please!
This is not easy to describe.
When revving the car with modest aggression (not just poking around town), a noise comes from my dash. It seems to come straight from the tach. The noise occurs as the revs climb past 4k. It becomes increasingly worse as I near 7k (my redline). What it sounds like is my tach goin into vtec. I had my wife rev the motor while I was under the hood. She heard the noise inside the car but I was right next to the motor and never heard it. I at first thought that it might be a vaccum line, but now I don't think so. Please help.

It could be your speedometer cable, they're great for screwing up and making noise, though, if it makes the noise in neutral I doubt that's it. Are you absolutely 100% sure it's coming *from* the tach? It could be a number of things...

the noise is coming from the dash are located behind the gauge cluster.
the noise can occur when in neutral, but like i said you gotta rev it up past 4k.
hence the noise is deirectly related to engine rpm and it is also related to moderate to heavy usage of the throttle. aka revving aggresively.
not a harmonic rattle. I don't think so.
thanks for the help guys.
