help?? Please..

I have a few problems with my rx7 (87 rx7 TII.... 89,000 miles) and have looked around the site looking for solutions to them.
I don't know much about cars but I would rather fix them myself then try to get one of the idiot car shops around here to fix them. They would probably just mess my car up more than fix it.

Anyhow I have idle problems and I have heard a few things that point to what the problem is. My idles won't hold when I first start the car. It will always shut off. After it warms up it will hold better than before but it will cut out on me at stop signs and stop lights. I am assuming I have a vacuum leak since I hear a strange sound when I first start my car each morning. To me it sounds like something being rubbed the wrong way and only happens when the engine is revd up to about 2000 rpm. The sound goes away after the engine warms up though. I was wondering if anyone has any pictures of where usual vacuum leaks occur so I don't go spraying starter fluid into things I should not?

I also have smoke come out of the exhaust when I start the car in the morning. Is this normal? The smoke only shows up once in the morning. After that you won't see any smoke for the rest of the day.

Other than that my car runs fine.

Any help would be appreciated thanks
