Help needed on oil leak on newly bought 1988 rx7
Hi Guys,
Have just recently bought a 1988 Rx7, just picked it up 2 days ago and drove it back about 700km's.
It has 60000kms since rebuild and it has been serviced 2 weeks ago, unfortunately there is an oil leak of some sort as it chewed up through all the oil in 700km's. There shouldn't be anything majorly wrong with the engine and its systems as it was checked out, am in contact with the seller trying to work it out, this is new to him as well. It did overheat slightly coming up a mountain on the way back, stopped and checked over it before going on and taking it easy and getting home okay only to have the warning light (only came on in hard right turns so I'm guessing the sensor is on the right side) come up on arrival and after checking it, no oil, well barely any.
I have put in a litre of oil and there doesn't seem to be any sign of a leakage in the last 2 days, but haven't driven it past the driveway just in case. Am getting it checked out next week but was wondering if any of you guys could guess what it might be and if an overheat would have any effect on the oil or vice versa? It runs smooth and doesn't seem to be any abnormalities bar the oil.
Also, whats the average pressure of oil at idle and when driving?? My gauge is in (Kgs/mm^2)
Perhaps the long drive brought about a problem? Or it may be something simple? Hopefully!
Any help is appreciated! I'm pretty new to the Rx7 and I wanna set about to take care of it and maintain it as best as I can, but first I have to work out what I may have done wrong or what may be wrong with it!

The RX7 actually injects oil into the combustion chambers. This causes them to use a little bit of oil. I think that 450 miles (700 km)/ quart (liter) is a little excessive, but mine uses about 1 quart (liter)/ 1500 miles (2400 kilometers.) (I have to add oil between changes.)
Look around the engine bay and see if you can see any leaked oil, if not, download the FSM for the lubrication system and test the Oil Metering Pump, adjusting as necessary until it meets the FSM specs. This should decrease oil comsuption. I like mine injecting too much (~2X stock) and have deliberately adjusted it this way (presumably for longevity.)
Even if you find an actual oil leak and fix it, it never hurts to test the OMP anyhow.
