Angry Help! My 88 n/a is overheating!

Well it actually hasn't overheated, but if i let it run long enough it will. So long story short, my old motor ate **** cuz of blown water seals and i ended up getting my friend's old motor from his 87 n/a. I know that this motor ran well before so i didn't spend a whole lotta time inspecting it. I just took off the rear housing, took a good look at the rotor and coolant passages (looked pretty good to me), put it all back together, and dropped that sucka in. After fightin' with a crank no start (bad crank sensor connection), i finally got is started. Anyways, the needle on the temp gauge will slowly rise and won't stop until i shut the engine off. There's no visible coolant leaks and i replaced just about all the hoses, but when i shut the engine off after it warms up, it starts steaming from around the lower intake manifold area. Weird ****, right?! The steam smells like coolant, but i just can't find a leak anywhere, and I don't think there's coolant that runs through the lower intake manifold ( at least in the n/a motor). Any help would be deeply appreciated!

Check your fan/clutch. If that's ok, then check your thermostat. After that I would look at maybe a clogged radiator. Then check the water pump. There's not much left after that.

Are you having issues with low coolant? You fill it up and a couple of days later, your low coolant buzzer is going off? If its leaking from the lower intake manifold, you may have a bad gasket there or its not seated properly. The seal around the cooling jacket in the intake manifold is not sealed right, sounds like to me.

did you put the orings on where the lim meets the block?

sorry, never done this procedure before. I would look in a factory service manual or haynes(the cheaper that works 60% of the time.

Yo thanks everyone for yo help it turned out ta be a clogged radiator. I threw a new one in and it runs cherry now!
By da way, i took the rear iron off simply cuz i was curious. I'm a ****** noob a'ight? And I sold the old motor before i could tear it apart and see how **** worked. And i didn't replace the water seals cuz like a said, the rear one looked good. It wasn't old or crumbly or busted or anything, so i let em be. Besides I didn't wanna spend to much cash on this motor cuz i wanna swap somethin faster and much more gangster in it someday. Until then this motor's doin a'ight. When the water seals go out, **** it. I gotta DD anyway.

O yea and sorry bout the double-post my computer been actin stupid lately
