Help! My 87 N/A is Leaking Fuel &...

Misfiring.

My car starts up, runs and idol's ok. After 2 or 3 minutes, it starts to misfire, It will drive fine for 10 minutes, then bog down under acceleration, and the idol will jump.
After a minute or so of this, it will run fine again.

My timing is on key. Car has a fresh tune up. Plugs, wires, oil.

There is a small hose/ gadget slightly under the intake manifold, which is leaking fuel, not very much, but enough to smell it strong when I get out of the car.

Could this misfire or whatever it is be caused from the fuel leak?
I am taking it to a mechanic friend to give diagnostic...
What should I have them check out?
What compression numbers am I looking for?
What fuel Pressure numbers am I looking for?

150,000 miles on the car

Thanks for the support guys!

STOP DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE. The small gadget that is leaking is most likely your Fuel Pulsation Damper. Continued driving puts you at serious risk of LIGHTING YOUR ENGINE BAY ON FIRE!

Can Do.
I am taking it to the mechanic tomorrow also.
Do I need to remove the intake manifold to replace this part?

Any help on what compression numbers I am looking for?
And fuel pressure numbers?

You will need to remove part of the intake manifold to change the pulsation damper.

Link

Click on "Tech", and then 86-88 PD Replacement.

A new PD is about $150.

Yes, the UIM has to come off. If you do a search on Fuel Pulsation Damper there's plenty of threads on what to do with your problem. Three common solutions: Remove it and put a banjo bolt in place. Replace it with another identical FPD. Replace it with an aftermarket FPD that won't result in fire, but will require retrofitting.

Great compression is 95+ psi, good is 90-95, 80-90 will last some time longer. 80- should make you consider a rebuild.

Fuel pressure is 36 psi, I believe.

Thanks a bunch for the links!
I have decided to go with the Banjo bolt. I called the local dealership, and for less then $40 I can get the bolt and the washers and everything I NEED TO DO THE PROJECT! VS paying the $180 for the dampner
So I will take pics of the project and tell you all how it goes.

N/A or Turbo? Theory states that a banjo bolt may cause varying fuel volume leading to oscillating between rich and lean, thus increasing the chance of detonation.
