Help my 87 fc please
Well I just purchased my 87 n/a and I was looking over the engine, there are a lot of plugs that lead to nothing but i think its because the car was orginally a T2 but for some reason the owner switched it to N/a. Well I was looking over the car and I noticed that the plug that goes into the stock headers which I am assuming is the O2 sensor is plugged into the header but the other end is just hanging and is not plugged in. There is about 1-2 feet of wire between the two ends and I cannot find where it plugs into. I have searched the haynes manual and original 7 manual but cant find where it goes, if anyone knows which I am sure you do please let me know. Also my 5/6th actuators are stuck closed I think they will not open when revving it, also they will not open by hand even when i press hard. There is a nipple at the bottom of them and by the diagrams I have seen there is supposed to be a air line there but I dont know where it connects to. Please help me to get this baby running well. Thanks and sorry for the long post.
You will find the O2 sensor wire (single connector) somewhere on top of the engine, behind the throttle body. There is a lot of stuff there, so you will have to hunt around for it.
The 5/6 ports are stuck, you may get some joy by removing the actuators (2 10mm bolts I think). Lubricate and work them some. It will be obvious which part is seized! If the port sleeve itself is stuck, I cant really say how to release them, but don't reef on them too hard or you will bend something...only a small fork on say a 1/8" shaft that connects them.
The nipple 'air' supply is actually an exhaust backpressure. There is a tap on the cat that goes to a check valve not far from your O2 sensor (see page 4A-2 in the Factory manual). A short rubber hose connects those two.
