Question help me spot coolant leak

im getting some coolant spilled on the heat shield next to one of the aux ports (the one closest to the front of the car) looks like its coming from the area above the air pump, i replaced my water pump recently along with a new gasket for it, could it be the gasket seal to the back of the water pump thats connected to the block of the engine? did you check the BAC hose that comes off the backside of the water pump housing?

well first off before that, did you apply pressure to the system to try and locate the leak ie. a pressure tester? most leaks will hit you right in the face once pressured up, literally..

Yea I had the same problem. Smoke was rising from the manifold, and to my dismay I realized it was actually coolant.

After taking off the LIM, I noticed that the water jacket o-ring seals where completley ruined. Not only did the previous rebuilder stuff in oversized o-rings to try and make a seal, he tightened the LIM and crushed/split the o-rings.

I bet you any money thats your problem, they're probably cracked or shrunk, not making a seal. Get the right ones from mazdatrix and use some gasket making sealent (thermal kind) on both sides of the seal.

good luck.
