your awesome!

Hey, you are such an awesome wife! I cant believe what you are doing, I wonder if my girl would do that for me, i mean you are busting a leg doing research and stuff.

But anyways, I will be on the lookout for you, would you be considering shipping though? Sometimes I come up with crazy cars. I mean like RX-7's I could let you know. Like I can send you picks if I find something incredible.

Ken, yes, I would consider shipping the perfect car, but I am nervous about that unless someone here (like yourself) who I could trust would help me by checking it out and all. Being I have no idea what I am doing, just considering this at all is making me nuts.

I did find the perfect one and posted a link but got no replies on it. I have left a message with the guy selling it and emailed him but it was posted back in March so it may be long gone.

I personally would like a 91, but he loved his 83. (OK I did too!) I am just thinking about upkeep and the fact that he doesn't work on cars.

Anyway, thanks for keeping an eye out for me. I appreciate all the help you fellas are offering.

that link you posted doesn't really say much information on the car, so i wouldn't get too excited. it doesn't even have pictures so who knows how good or bad the car really is. also, if you're going to buy a 1st generation RX-7, get him a GSL-SE. that model was the best model ever made here for the 1st gens and is faster than a stock non turbo 2nd generation RX-7. if you can't find that, i'd go with the midnight blue 91 RX-7 that you found because if the engine really is NEW, then it should last him forever.

Hey ... not going so well. Had to put the search on hold a bit because we are out of town together. However, I am near at Atlanta so I am looking around here and looking towards FLA as that is where we will be during his birthday week. The 83 was sold.

As afar as the midnight blue one, the owner is now telling me the price is negotiable. The only reason I haven't jumped on that one yet is the color. We prefer classic colors - red, black, white and silver. That blue one is in the back of my mind and I may end up getting it, but not until I have searched everywhere for exactly what I want. The interior is blue too or I would consider it and paint it black. What do y'all think? He's not crazy about blue in any way shape or form but tolerates it because navy is my favorite color. Anyway, I know he would love and appreciate what I am doing and would take the blue one, but I know he would prefer another color.

*sigh*

how does this one look?

I called him a moment ago but caught him at a bad time ... I did ask about milege, only 104,000. We are vacationing in Orlando the week of hubby's birthday and are heading to West Palm to visit friends during that time. This would be PERFECT *IF it is the one. Anyone near Miami that could check this one out for me? I would bake you something yummy and mail it to you!

I know you guys really need more info and I will post it as soon as I talk to him (although this dial up at my mom's house is driving me batty!!)

go with the 91 blue (private sale) but offer $2500 cash, bring the cash with you so he can drool over it and can't say no. Look at the links on HOW TO BUY and good luck. Please take ALL kinds of pictures, interior, exterior engine bay, wheel wells, EVERYTHING so we can help you a bit more.

i would also avoid buying cars that say may need tune up, lack pictures, or say things like hauls ***. that last one didnt, have enough info, he didnt know the brand of the header, he didnt post the mileage, and people that dont know about cars and say may need tune up dont know enough to tell you that car is in good shape. your in the right place, just try to buy from an enthusiast, if you dont know if they're an enthusiast, just ask how many cylinders it has, if they say anything other than a light chuckle and go into the long speech about gods greatest gift to man kind, i would be a little worried. your husband will be stoked no matter what, my wife bought me an e30 m3 for my anniversary and i almost cried. (i said almost)

Definitely go with car #2 out of the 3 you listed so far. DO NOT go with car #3. Putting in an engine and tuning an RX-7 is different than most other cars, and if your husband does not enjoy this, that is definitely not the car for him. In addition, you'll want to select a car in as best condition as possible, since finding a mechanic to do serious work on the engine of an RX-7 is going to be tough and costly, since its an abnormal engine. TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES AND POST THEM HERE

By the way, what an amazing birthday present!

Thanks so much for all the help, guys.

Is Ken the only one who thinks color matters? I am not crazy about the blue one myself and really don't think he would love it. He would be overwhelmed and excited to have one, but not ecstatic like he would be over a white, black or silver one.

You could always offer your husband to have it painted in the near future for him.

Black, white, and silver might be pretty nice...but not as nice as fresh Black, white, or silver paint.

The interior of the blue one (car #2) is blue. To me, the blue one could be painted black but the interior is blue and I think would look a bit weird with black on the exterior.

I think you are on the right track with color choices. The blue and red interiors usually wind up looking pretty bad after 20+ years. Plus I just don't like the colors as much for an interior anyway. Stick to black or grey for interior color. Exterior is more flexible if you don't mind getting the car repainted to suit but remember that all the door jambs, engine bay, etc will not match the rest of that car unless you pay big $$ for a paint job. I know you are looking to get him a car for his B-day but, it's really worth it to take your time and wait for a car you really want. If you can't get it by his b-day just get him something small and surprise him with it late!

damn its clean as hell
u rarely find one clean like that lol

most of the FC's out there are all beat up and stuff, everybody TRIED to restore them but only few success

with a clean interior like that, all u have to do is talk the seller down to .... say 2500, even 2000 if hes willing to let it go for that low lol

Wow, pretty clean exterior, s5, immaculate interior. Wow, I'm shocked, thats a hard to find one right there. Just look at those seats and dashboard. Very nice car visually. A good find if it runs well.

do you have any sisters.. single sisters?

now thats a very clean car. and usually when someone goes thru the trouble to keep a car that clean .. then they probably maintained it well also. you can usually ask to take a used car to a mechanic for a look over prior to buying and they can give you an idea of how healthy the car is.. even if they dont know how many cylinders it has.. now if you ask to take the car to a mechanic and the owner turns frigid and tries to back away.. then theres probably something to be concerned about.
