ok, my 86 with the 5.12 gears, when i drive it the car wont pull above 6000rpm's, it will go to redline, but it wont pull, it pulls hard to 6k and then just kinda goes barely to 7k, i already took apart my intake and cleaned out the 6 port sleeves and the intake runners and wired open my 6 ports, i think its in my tranny, because the shifter starts rattling a LOT and the tranny makes a weird noise above 5k rpm, anyone got any ideas on what it could be??

 

do you have an exhaust? with a stock exhaust you are probably just killing it at higher rpm.

 

yeah the exhaust, and check you air filter and spark plugs. and you might want to get a bottle of really good injector cleaner, add it before filling the tank and take a road trip so you get it all out in a weekend on the highway. that is the best way I have found to use that stuff. it works. but it works better on the highway.

 

yea, maybe a fuel pump too, guy just told me a tranny wouldnt restrict RPM's, so im gonna change out my fuel pump and put 2 different secondary injectors in tomorrow

friday im gonna get my wheels balanced, changed the tranny and differential fluid and change my oil

ya, tranny, driveshaft, and rear end problems are speed dependant, not rpm.

 

FUEL FILTER, damn i need one of those too lol
