ok, i just got my car from bounceing but now i have a wierd noise coming from what sounds the transmission/ main cat. when i rev up the car to about 3000 rpm i hear a humming sound. i think it is the exhaust because it only happens when i punch the gas. i could slowly rev it up and there will be no sound. if it was the tranny it would do it all the time. there is also a burning smell when it does it. i know that there is are some holes in the cats but would it make a noise? i mean it sounds like an impact wrench hiss. also about two days ago the car seemed to have high end power but now it seems to just lag almost slowing the car down at about 5500 rpm. could a clogged cat rob me of the power i used to have. 1988 gxl na no mods

 

yes a clogged cat can rob you of power. does it smell like rotten eggs or get excessively hot? you should start out by replacing or getting rid of your cat. then go from there.

what bouncing are you talking about??? you put new struts on or something?
