Help a lame 1st gen owner out

Hey guys,

This is my first trip in to FC land,so go easy on me.Here is the deal.I am helping a friend work on his newly purchased FC that I have done work on for theprevious owner along with help from another more knowledgable friend. The more knowledgable friend however is in Spain right now,and can't help me,and I don't have any of the paperwork for this part that I am swapping from a blown engine to a new/used engine.

The part is a lightweight flywheel which I know how to do,and have install both this one,and one in my car no problem, but the issue is with the pressure plate. While I was removing the pressure plate from the flywheel I did notice that 2 bolts had larger heads on them, and didn't really think they meant anything.Well while chatting with my friend in Spain he told me that the pressure plate has an orientation that I didn't mark, and that the 2 larger bolts need to be in certain places.Well as you can see I didn't mark anything, and now I am stuck with the pressure plate mounted, but maybe in the wrong orientation. Can anyone help me with this?It is a racing beat lighweight aluminum flywheel with the replaceable surface, and I have no idea what the clutch/pressure plate brand is,but that shouldn't matter right? Thanks in advance.

By larger heads, you mean bolts with a larger unthreaded shank and longer overall? If so, then that's normal. There are two holes on the stock flywheel that are deeper then others, and that's where you use those bolts.

As far as I know the pressure plate really only fits one or two ways, either one being correct.

I don't know about the aftermarket flywheel though, since I don't really use them.

The bolts don't have longer in-threaded shanks like the stock ones. These bolts are really long, and are a nut,and bolt setup that bolts through the flywheel with spacers. Two of the bolts have larger heads on them, but the shank length, and thickness seem the same as the others.

i would think that the larger headed bolts would bolt on opposite side directly across from one another. i would think that they would do this so they would apply even pressure on either side of the pressure plate and flywheel. perhaps its to keep the pressure plate balanced. i do know that you torque a pressure plate in torque incriments in a criss cross pattern, like on a wheel and the last torque sequence shold be what the reccomended torque spec is.

Thats the other thing I don't have the torque specs for this pressure plate, clutch, flywheel assembly.I remember that the two larger headed bolts wer not directly across form one another, but were about one bolt away from one another.I guess I really f'd up, by not marking this thing.nay more help out there?
