Help installing stock seats
Hey all,
I have an 88 vert with no passenger seat (long story). I purchased a stock vert seat and also purchased the slider rails from a user on this very site.
I think I might be missing some more pieces, though. It looks like there are two crossmembers, and the rails screw in from the front of the forward one. However, there doesn't seem to be anything for them to screw into. Here are some pictures to describe what I mean:
Back side of forward crossmember
Forward side of forward crossmember
Full view for context
I would expect there to be an insert in that rectangular gap that has a threaded hole for the bolt to screw into. Is this correct? What would I even call these things, so I can search for them online?
Thanks!

In your Full view I see a bolt on the floor at the top of the screen that the Seat belt buckle is "pointing to"..
That is ONE point to attach the inner stock passenger rail.
then it attaches at the rear with a bolt on the back side of the Crossmember.
the outer passenger seat rail(towards the Door) will attach by the rail dropping over the crossmember(s).

Ah, thank you, that's very helpful!
And do you happen to know the size of the bolt that attaches the seat to the rails? I want to make sure I have the right ones.

That's good advice. I'm not sure I could just eyeball the two bolts and be 100% confident that I got it right though. Also, given the many sins of the previous owner, I'm not entirely sure the bolts on the driver's seat are the correct ones anyway. If anyone has a definitive answer, that would be very helpful!

I cannot answer definitively but in general you'll find the FC only uses three bolt sizes...6mm x 1 (10mm head), 8mm x 1.25 (12mm head) and 10mm- which can be either coarse or fine thread-(14mm head).
A more applicable tip for you...
I always found the two rear rail mount bolts a PITA to install correctly; they're at a weird angle and you're threading through the carpet, so it's easy to crossthread and bugger the capture nuts.
I put studs in the floorpan (or actually, the crossbrace, I guess) in the rear mounts and now the seat can be slid over the rear studs and then levered down to install the two front mount bolts.
It's much simpler.

It was a bit of an ordeal, but I did finally get the passenger seat in the car! Neither the 6x1 or the 8x1.25 bolts I bought did the job, but it turns out the bolts from the wrong seat which had been installed before would fit.
The bolts for mounting the rails to the body are fine-threaded 10x1.25 bolts, as mentioned elsewhere on this forum.
Thanks for your help everyone!
