help installing aftermarket power antenna with stock mazda stereo

-i cant get my new power antenna to work

i am using the stock mazda stereo, with an aftermarket antenna by option racing

i didnt get any instructions with it,
the new antenna has 3 wires. a green, a red and a black.

i assume

green=radio to antenna signal
red=12v
black=ground

i know that the mazda stock stereo sends a negetive (-) signal to the antenna
but i already tried using a relay, and it did not work.

any ideas? please share

***pic of the antenna

Just need to use a standard automotive relay.

wire the relay as follows:

85 to the Mazda factory antenna wire (- signal).
86 to 12 volts
87 to 12 volts
Green of the new power antenna to 30 of the new relay.
Red of the new power antenna to 12 volts
Black of the new antenna to ground.

why not use the style that most newer cars use. Looks like a dolphin back or a fin. Very small, gets rid of the retractable mess

Those are GPS or Sat radio antennas.

For best FM reception you need an antenna 31.5 inches tall. Something short like a rubber antenna or small dolphine style antenna will never give you the reception of a mast antenna that is 31.5 inches tall.

I am sure that they would claim that they would work, just like people say the Tornado gives them better gas mileage after they spent the $50.

They might work (sic) ok in flat or otherwise low land areas, where you don't have an mountains (real mountains= >1500ft height) or large buildings.

But they would suck anywhere else. Face it, there is just not the mast to even get a 1/4 wave on any FM stations.
