Unhappy HELP: Ignition Help

Well on my car it runs fine and everything, but today i started it up went to target and was done went to go leave and turned the key and nothing. Me and my buddy push started it and it then ran fine. I then went to autozone, they tested the battery and alternator everything fine. I changed the terminal connectors and then it started up. it then started up fine for like 4 times. Went to the movies came out tried to start it and than nothing again it just clicks.

What i am wondering is what you guys think just need some input. my friend who is a mechanic said its thae battery, but i think it might be the starter or the acctual key ignition, what do you guys think??

Are your battery connections clean and tight? How about the main ground at the stock tower and engine? The connection from the starter to the battery good?

You can pull the starter and bench test it. The Haynes and FSM both have instructions on how to do so.

Transmission out of gear.....jumper b/t the small blade elect connector on the starter solenoid TO the large wire bolted on the solenoid. The starter will/should turn over each time you do that. If it does turn over each and every time, then how could anybody say the starter is bad? Can't without a tortured and twisted explanation. Takes all of five minutes if the car is jacked up or is on wheel ramps.

It also would eliminate the battery/terminals being bad. Duh. What's left? Yeah.
