HELP ! Gearbox/transmission problem!

I have a 86 NA GXL with only 135km on it

Im took out the a/c and the stock stereo and the shift boot with all the sound insulation. At higher speeds/rpms i hear this rattling and squee sound and its coming from the gear box, i think its some vibrations coming from the box, when i hold the shifter more tighten the sound lightens up. Im not sure what is going on or if this is a big problem, also the shifter doesnt seem to 'bounce' back into 'N' it jus jiggles around like it lost a spring or something, i personally think the gearbox is busted n needs to be replaced, but im not sure could someone please offer some guidence !!!

ANY HELP PPL ?!

Yeah, replace your shifter bushings and boots. All parts can be found at mazdatrix.

Dude, one thread, not seven!

Sounds exactly like my gearbox. Yes it probabaly needs to be rebuilt but unless it's actually difficult to shift, it's not urgent. It'll keep working fine, it'll just keep getting noisier and more annoying. It's on my to-do list.

It didn't nead 10 threads to get the problem solved. I hate when people can't act their age...

Only press the submit once...ten times is way too many.

And I would check the shifter bushings and replace the gear oil, first before doing anything else
