HELP! Electrical woes

Just picked up my car from Rotary Evolution last week and all was going well. I put about 480miles on it and then I went to start it up after eating and the whole car was just dead. I jumped the car, it idled and I drove it down the block but down the street the car basically died. The radio kept restarting and all of a sudden the car died. No power...nothing.

I pull over, and try to get another jump. After it's jumped, the car will not respond to throttle, it will start and die.

Do you guys think it's the alternator? Possibly a bad battery cable? I'm stumped.

I know this is old, but since it came up in my search, I figured I'd post in case anyone else runs into the problem. You're alternator will usually keep your car running while it's running, even if the battery is bad - once you're alternator goes out, you can almost use your battery gauge like a fuel gauge. You can test by starting the car and disconnecting the battery once you've got a solid idle - if your alternator is working, then it should keep the car running even with the battery disconnected. if your car dies immediately, that points to a bad alternator.

The BEST way to tell, is to take your battery and your alternator out of your car and take them to your local O'Reilly, Advance, or Autozone. At least down here, they'll test them for free and tell you what's going on.

Thanks for the reply. I have already fixed this and I think it was a loose connection, but yes, I took my battery and alternator to autozone and they tested them for free. Good stuff!
