Help. Did I lose an apex seal?
Hey guys, I've got a 89 N/A with 139k miles. My car crapped out at a stop light last week. It starts but the idle vibrates the whole car and it barely moves in gear. There is no smoke whatsoever so I assume I lost an apex seal?
I took it to a diagnostic shop and the people were not familar with rotories at all. Anyway, after buying new spark plugs and leaving my haynes manuel with them, they said it had zero compression on the rear rotor. Are these normal blown apex seals symptoms or should I take it to a rotary specialist? (I wish I had done that in the first place...) Thanks for any feedback.

Go outside and do the "poor mans" compression test right now. remove the lower spark plugs (And the EGI fuse out of the fuse box on the drivers' side shock tower), then have a friend crank the car. You should get 6 even "whooshes". It will be very easy to see if this is not the case, you'll be able to tell instantly.
Good luck
