help! damn nuts!

im trying to get the nut off my rx7's right rear drive axel (the big one in the center of the hub) but no matter what i do it wont budge. if smothered it in penetrating fluid, tried a torch (heating not cutting), but when i try to turn it the damn car lifts off the jack stands and it doesnt budge!

any ideas/suggestions would be great thanx.

Did you bend up the tab from the notch?

Bend out the little tab, it's actually considered a lock nut because you dent part of it in on a notch in the axle.

We had the same problem though, one that was just plain seized. We put the wheel on the car with no centre cap and put the car down on the floor. Wedged both sides of the tire very securely to keep it from moving, then got the biggest breaker bar we could find with a little extension just to get it through the wheel onto the nut, then put in on there and stood on the breaker bar and bounced up and down on it.

Or, with the wheel off, put one pipe through the wheel studs to sorta jam it from moving and have a friend who weighs more than you stand on that one to keep the wheel still. Then, take a big breaker bar and put it on the nut, and both of you stand on them and bounce a little.

Make sure the lock portion of the nut is uncrimped though first.

If you can, borrow an air compressor and a mf-ing impact gun. I've wasted enough time putting up with **** like that on my car.

I know when we did ours, we tried using an impact gun as well (we have air and air tools) and that didn't take it off either. There seemed like no other way then the weight of 1-2 large people bouncing on a pipe to get it off haha

yea, wedging something between 3 lug nuts and the ground, then a 5 foot bit of thick copper tubing on the handle of the socket, then me sitting on it and bouncing (im ~210 lbs) finally did it for me... after unbending the tab
