HELP! - cut wires, need help!

hey guys.
i just bought a used SAFC2, and it came in the mail today.
i have a concern though, some of the wires are cut, and i dont know how to put em back together again
lol
ok..
so, i have
1: safc2 unit, with black wire attached that is cut at the end.. i can see all the colored wires inside.
2:big black bundle of smaller wires, cut at one end, and has a connector on the other.

so.. obviously i want to hook this thing up.. so do i cut off the connector on the one end of the big black bundle (resulting in having a long big black wire with little colored wires inside, cut on both ends) and then solder the corresponding colored wires together on the smaller black wire that is attached to the unit?

and then, ofcourse, solder the wires on the other end of the big black wire to the ecu?

any help appreciated
thanks alot,
cam

if you are going to be soldering, then it doesn't really matter as long as the correct wires go to the correct places. that seperate piece you have with the connector is basically just to lengthen the other wires if it doesn't reach the ecu area. when i got my safc i didn't have the extra piece with the connector (referred to as a harness) so i just cut the connector off of the end of the safc wires and soldered from there.
