Unhappy help...coolant overflow

yes i think the exhuast gas is pushing the coolant system and coolant comes out at the overflow tank

so pretty sure the engine coolant seal is bad right??

any other explanation??

That sounds like bad news to me. After my car was doing that, I got to look at my side housing when the enginge was out... the water seal groove was broken or cracked in about six places. I don't think there is anything else that will cause it overflow like that. Have you checked your thermostat?

He's right, pressure from the combustion chamber will seep into the cooling system. See what your coolant looks/smells like. Petroleum=bad.

hm..
i don't think i am lying to my self but honestly the coolant are pretty clean..

no dropping no leaks for radiator...i never seen any drop under the car...
so let's just hope it's the radiator cap...letting air getting in...

oh well i tend to give myself alot of excuses that my car is fine =)
i just hope it can last for 1 more yr...caz i am planning to modify my FC totally engine wise...but now i don't have money..
still a poor college student...and don't really wanna put money just on rebuild now..want to get it ported and etc

Is it overflowing ALL THE TIME, or just when hot? If only when hot, it's likely NOT the exhaust gasses!

Try this.. When it's cold, take off your filler cap. Start the car up. Do you see air bubbles/smell exhaust in the coolant there in the filler neck? If so, it seems you're out of luck.

If not, then slowly as your car warms up, the coolant level will rise in the filler neck before it ovelflows. Cap it back off, your problem is elsewhere.. Clogged radiator? Maybe some leaves/birds between the a/c and rad? Fan working properly? Running a lil' lean?

Hope it's not too bad!

thx for the adivce

actually couple days ago when i was flushing and refilling coolant..
i accidenty forgot the put back the rad cap and start the car...
and didn't think i saw bubbles/exhuast gas bubble coming out from there.. but the coolant level kept rising...

and YES it does not overflow all the time, only when it's hot or above certain rpm... i guess.. i am sure there are some air getting into the cooling system...since the temperature reads really high reading sometimes..but then after 30secs..it will bounce back to normal...

also one weird thing happened, when the car is overheating...gauge almost read "H", i turned on the heater...but then no heat will come out... but then when the temp bounce back to normal level around the middle...heater will be working again... why???

oh well i did went to mariah motorsports in santa barbara today, and talked to the guy, but......
i did ask him some of the question about the problem here, but in general he only gave me one answer, "probably the motor is starting to fail on you, so it's a good time to get a rebuilt"...not very convincing

anyway the rebuilt price is somewhat expensive, not in my budget, i told myself i problaby will not go there anymore. didn't help much..... by the way this is just my own opinion about mariah, but the shop is definitely a cool place to check out though

thx for reading such a long post

and damn i need to run on sunday, what should i do?
