Help choosing an FC

Hello everyone in the RX7 comunitiy, I am new to this board and would like some help in choosing the FC for me. Im looking into buying an rx7. I still have lots of time to choose one, so no rush here. Im interested in making a drag/autocross car. Lots of power and good handling. Some choices I have been running into is,

1. should I buy a rx7 with a blown motor and do a swap? If I do buy a Rx7 N/a by chance will it be any difference from a turbo with a blown motor? (like transmition etc)
2. If I choose to do this swap, what is the BEST motor I can put in to fit my needs. (I hear there is a rotory that can do 11 K rpm heheh sounds good.)
3. If I dont choose to do the swap which turbo model/year is best? (I will prolly end up buying a bigger turbo)
4. Is the suspension different with different models?

Ill have more questions when I get closer to a choice, any answers or bias will help lots.

S4 NA base with a blown engine or even better, S4 TII. As far as engine swaps, don't ask my opinion. I would recommend an aluminum block V8 . . . and people don't like that idea on this forum.

Your mechanical abilities or pocket book size are going to limit what you can buy and do.

And a car set up for drag is going to be radically different than a car set up for autocross, perhaps you should figure out what you want first.

And yes, domestic piston engine swaps are generally frowned upon in the area of the board, however there is a new section made just for piston engine swaps:

If you can find an s5(89-91) turbo which has low miles and everything else is decent, get that and start your upgrades.

If you cant find that, get an s4(87-88) turbo any condition. The s4 engines are cheapest to get rebuilt, and they are easier to find then s5's. www.rotaryresurrection.com offers s4 engines for 1200 bucks I think /w core swap.

Also if you are making a drag car you will want a turbo..
(With a couple grand in mods you can probably run 11-12s) For autox most people seem to choose NA GTU or GTUs as bases, although I don't know much about NA performance mods so someone else will have to help you out there.

Buy the best one you can afford. Don't buy one that needs an engine. You'll end up finding other things it will need. Just start with a good one. Do your mods to it later as money permits.

Personally I prefer N/A cars. I don't drag race either. Autocross only for me.

Well since he wants drag and autox I would say an N/a with N2O would be best. Lightweight and fast when needed.

Heh.. I definately like the sound of turbo and 11 to 12 second quarter miles. Nos? .. Im too knowledged on rotory engines and how it goes with nos, but I also dont like to use NOS that much. I guess I can autox with my N/A mr2. Keep in mind im going to use this car as a daily driver as well heheh. If this helps budget wise, I would prolly say 10,000 from scratch. What can I build?

87-88 are S4 TurboII's. 89-91 are S5's. There are a few differences but I would probably go for an S4.

Well I think that if you want a f-ing fast Turbo car then go for it but you might need a bit more cash after your done to keep it on the road since maintenance costs rise as the level of moddification does(directly proportionate) I would rather tell you to get two cars if you have 10k. 1) a nice N/a for every day use and autocross 2) a Turbo 2 Monster for the weekend track days.

Bebesito21- They only reason I said that is because that would not be on my car. I still don't like N2O but it is a viable source of good HP gains.

S5 is a bit heavier. 4 rotor? :p Your best bet is 3 rotor but even that will set you back a lot.

Sure, there's a company that's producing them in AUS.

Something around 6-700HP N/A form...1400ishHP turbod.

I don't think your going to afford it with your budget.

A while back there was a NICE thread that outlined pretty much everything you needed to get a 400HP setup. I THINK the costs was around 6,000.
